If you want to get away from the traditional Tucson Resorts and out of the city a bit, this sprawling, historic, hacienda-style upscale resort ($140-$265 a day) has a popular, lush golf course lined with casitas and rooms of various sizes and styles, two restaurants, a pool, hot tub, and other amenities.
Over the last several years the resort has been going through a $40 million restoration. Check the Web site for great package deals; prices drop considerably in summer. It’s a luxurious, elegant place to stay about 45 minutes from Tucson south on I-19 and within easy distance of the shops and galleries at Tubac and the trails of the Tumacacori Highlands and the Santa Rita Mountains.
The Tubac Golf Resort and Spa is featured on the Certified Green Resort page, one of a very select group of resorts and hotels to earn the distinction.
